Why does PTO do fundraising?
We use fundraising to achieve our mission of promoting a strong school community.
Each year, the PTO writes a check to Edison for $10,000! Neither the district nor the state provides all the necessary money to the school and we use fundraising to achieve our mission of promoting a strong school community.
Together, we have raised the money to put smartboards in every classroom, purchased the playground equipment, and tablets for classroom use. We want our teachers to have access to the tools they need to effectively teach. And we want our students to learn to use technology.
It takes our family involvement to ensure our Edison Eagles have the tools they need to succeed. Fundraisers are crucial to the success of PTO's mission to support our students.
For those of us that would like an alternative to the traditional fundraiser, the PTO wants you to consider making Direct Donations. The PTO will take monetary donations at any time in any amount during the school year - best of all for you, they are tax deductible. Also make note - your donation may qualify for company-matching programs through your employer. If you work for a company that offers this benefit, please contact your human resources department for information. Company-matching programs could help double your donation amount! Our goal for the year is to raise $30,000.

Where does $30,000 go in a year?
$12,000 to be used on areas with low funding: Art, Music, Gym, Library, and Playground
$ 6,000 for field trip bussing (you pay for admissions, PTO pays for transportation)
$ 4,800 for teachers to use in their classroom
$ 4,000 to recognize students’ achievements
$ 1,450 to thank staff for the work they do
$ 1,000 to sponsor events for families
$ 750 to run PTO (website, taxes, insurance, paper)
Where does the money come from each year?
$16,000 comes from Product Fundraisers (Club’s Choice, Scholastic Book Fair)
$13,000 Events (Purses 4 a Purpose)
$ 1,000 Restaurant Nights (Marco’s)
